Advanced Aesthetics

Our clock hour aesthetic programs are taught using a sequential set of learning objectives that address the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pass the aesthetician state board exams and prepare for a new career in the Aesthetics field. IMAj Institute has a large inventory of machines to provide extensive hands-on experiences for our students. The Institute uses professional grade products in the training setting.

Program Objectives

Recognize the cosmetic client’s unique characteristics.
Understand the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology as they apply
Aesthetics.
Understand the principles and importance of infection control.
Understand physiology and histology of the skin as well as disorders and
diseases of the skin.
Demonstrate proper skin analysis.
Explain the chemistry, ingredients and selection of skin care products that are
used by an aesthetician.
Understand the important elements of a treatment room.
Demonstrate the essential skills to perform a variety of facial treatments
including: galvanic treatments, LED use and dermaplaning.
Demonstrate the proper techniques of facial massage.
Understand methods of temporary and permanent hair removal and reduction
and demonstrate proper techniques.
Understand makeup essentials.
Understand the benefits and demonstrate proper techniques for advanced
treatments including:
- Chemical peels (AHA/BHA)
- Enzyme masks
- Microdermabrasion
- Microcurrent
- High Frequency
- Signature Facial
Be prepared to successfully pass the Arizona State Board Aesthetician written
and practical exams by review of aesthetic principles during our State Board
Exam preparation class.
Be prepared for your job search with your personal resume and job interview

Advanced Aesthetics Admission Requirements

You must be 18 years of age or have a parent or legal guardian present to provide consent.
- Provide two types of identification at the time of enrollment

Aesthetician Instructor

The Aesthetics Instructor program teaches licensed estheticians the skills they need to become an aesthetics instructor themselves. This program consists of training in lesson plan development, preparation and implementation of plans, ands hands-on clinical instruction. Successful completion of this program qualifies you to take the Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board Aesthetics Instructor Licensing Exams.

Program Objective

Recognize the qualities and characteristics of an instructor.
Understand the benefits of teacher preparation.
List characteristics that are common among adult learners.
Teach effective study and testing skills.
Understand learning principles and different learning styles.
Explain different teaching methods.
Demonstrate effective communication skills.
Create effective presentations.
Demonstrate effective classroom management.
Recognize individual learning disabilities and barriers.
Develop lesson plans with learning objectives.
Understand advantages of various educational aids and instructional media.
Understand various methods of assessing student progress.
Recognize effective methods of teaching in the clinic/lab environment.
Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and confidence required to successfully pass
the Arizona Aesthetics Instructor licensing exam.

Aesthetics Instructor Admissions Requirements

You must have an active aesthetician or cosmetology license
Have one year of field experience
Provide a copy of your professional license at the time of enrollment

350 clock hours
Training conducted on campus, Monday – Thursday
Training presented in lectures and Interactive Participation Activities.
Student Instructors Observe and Assist Licensed Instructors in The Classroom and Clinic
Meets Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board Training Requirements for Aesthetic Instructor License
