With nearly 90% of your time spent in the lab, you’ll gain real, hands-on experience designed to build both your skillset and your confidence so you’re ready to stand out in the field.

Certified Laser Technician

Attending IMAj Institute’s Certified Laser Technician Program ensures you’ll walk away with more than just credentials. You’ll earn your Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Certificate and become a Certified Laser Technician (CLT) through the Arizona Bureau of Radiation Control. But what truly sets your training apart is the full access to all of Aesthetic ProTools technology. 

Throughout your training you’ll get experience using in-demand cosmetic laser modalities such as VADER, Artisan, Tri-Pulse, BUBBL and more. By the time you graduate, you’ll have performed 50 treatments across a variety of skin concerns and client needs. With free refresher courses, we ensure your skills will stay sharp and your training evolves with the industry.

Program Objectives
  • Client Assessment: Identify client needs and customize treatments 
  • Laser Function: Understand how lasers and IPL interact with the skin 
  • Device Knowledge: Learn when to use specific lasers based on the clients skin and needs 
  • Safety & Protocols: Recognize contraindications and follow proper safety procedures 
  • Treatment Planning: Match laser services to client goals 
  • Hands-On Training: Practice real techniques using Aesthetic ProTools and other devices 
  • Communication Skills: Set expectations and explain treatment outcomes clearly 
  • Professional Readiness: Build the confidence and experience to step into the field 
Admission Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older or have a parent or legal guardian present to provide consent 
  • You must have completed training or be enrolled in training in the areas of Cosmetology, Aesthetics, Nursing, or other medical professions and be able to provide proof of education or enrollment 
  • Provide identification at the time of enrollment. Types of identification accepted, 
    • United States Birth Certificate 
    • Valid Drivers License (Any State) 
    • Valid State Identification Card (Any State) 
    • Valid Military Identification 
    • Valid Passport 
    • Social Security Card
  • Must be able to provide proof of high school completion or its equivalent. This can include any of the following, 
    • High School Diploma 
    • GED
    • Homeschool Diploma 
    • College Transcript 
    • Verified Foreign Equivalent 
    • Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) Test Results 
  • Must have the ability to electronically access digital learning curriculum including audio

COSMETIC LASER TRAINING FOR HEALTH-CARE PROFESSIONALS

For licensed medical professionals ready to expand their scope of practice, we offer a focused laser training course designed to complement your existing credentials. You’ll learn the core cosmetic treatments such as hair reduction, tattoo removal, skin rejuvenation, and more. Our program meets Arizona’s requirements for Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), Medical Doctors (MDs) and other qualified providers looking to offer advanced aesthetic services without completing a full certification program.

  • Must be a licensed medical professional such as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Medical Doctor. 
  • Laser Safety Officer (L.S.O.) Certificate is included
  • Approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services 
  • Approved by the Bureau of Radiation Control

SUPERVISING LASER TECHNICIAN​

If you’re a Certified Laser Technician ready to lead and mentor others, the Supervising Laser Technician Program is designed to elevate your expertise. This advanced training helps you meet the Arizona Bureau of Radiation Control’s requirements to supervise cosmetic laser procedures and support students in their clinical training. 

As part of the program, you’ll complete 100 documented laser treatments in core modalities such as hair reduction, tattoo removal, IPL contributing to a total of at least 600 treatments by graduation. This extensive experience not only sharpens your skillset but also prepares you to guide others with accuracy, confidence and a deep understanding of advanced cosmetic laser protocols.

  • Schedule: On campus training Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm
  • Treatments Required for Completion: 
    • Tattoo Removal: 100
    • Hair Reduction: 100
    • Collagen Synthesis: 100
    • Intense Pulse Light (IPL): 100
    • Pigment Reduction: 100
    • Vascular Reduction: 100 
  • Eligibility: Must have an active Laser Certificate 
  • Tuition: $5,000

Additional Fee

For all programs, there is an additional $200 for uniforms, $100 per Application and $200 for Enrollment.
